This block was originally carved during my time in Oaxaca, featuring familiar symbols from my ongoing work. The dress is a blend of inspirations—Mexican embroidered dresses and the home dresses my grandmother wore in Malaysia. While block printing has been a powerful way for me to process grief this year, this particular piece is about shrouding myself and my community in symbols of lightness and strength.
